Merfish Teen Leadership Program

The program is designed to allow Teens to engage one another, as future Teen Leaders, and to become more familiar with the Jewish communal world. The Merfish Teen Leadership Program (MTLP) will be offered to Jewish high school students entering 11th and 12th grade. MTLP will allow participants to learn about the responsibilities and functions directly from the successful professionals from our own Houston Jewish communal organizations. Each participant will have the opportunity to ask specific questions, and get a detailed understanding of how the professional makes decisions to help the organization operate. The program also allows for the participants to have a direct impact and “hands on” decision making opportunities. The program will culminate with a new Teen community wide program created completely by the members of the MTLP. Attached, you will find a tentative schedule of meeting dates of the MTLP.

The MTLP participants will be selected through an application process. It is important that once an application is submitted, that you realize you are committed to monthly discussions, experiential and exciting activities, and an open mind to really learn about the Houston Jewish community.

We are asking that this year’s MTLP participants receive recommendations from their youth leaders. Please pass on the attached application to only those Teens that you feel will benefit greatly from this program. Inform these applicants that the MTLP will cost $50 for the session. Please contact me with the names, addresses and emails of these potential participants.
